National Webinar on "Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) in Pharmaceutical Experimentation: One-way, Two-way, Three-way ANOVA and Multiple Comparison Test"

VNIPS has conducted a National Webinar on "Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) in Pharmaceutical Experimentation: One-way, Two-way, Three-way ANOVA and Multiple Comparison Test" in association with Mybo Group on 28th June 2020.

Quality Improvement Program – Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences:

Dr. P. V. Madhavi Latha, Associate Professor, VNIPS has attended an AICTE sponsored Quality Improvement Program on “Drug Discovery and Analytical Techniques: An update in Education and Research”. It was organized by Departments of Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance, Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Manipal from 4th to 9th November, 2019. The program was scheduled with three days technical sessions covering advanced topics of drug discovery and analytical techniques by eminent speakers from industry and academics and three days hands on training on HPLC and LCMS. A total of fifteen faculty members from different states have attended the program.

JNTUK Best NSS Programme Officer Award:

Ms. A. Suneetha Devi, got Best NSS Programme Officer award, on 7th November, 2019 in JNTUK, Kakinada. For her service as NSS Programme Officer from 2010 to 2019 in Viswanadha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences. She has conducted different NSS Programs like Blood Donation camp, Organ Donation camp, Swacch Bharath program, NSS Special camps in different villages, Awareness programs etc.

National seminar - AU College of Pharmaceutical Sciences:

Faculty member of VNIPS, Dr.P.Madhavi Latha attended the national seminar on 30th September, 2019 in A.U. College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Visakhapatnam entitled “Innovations in Pharmaceutical Analysis – Challenges and Strategies” – IPACS – 2019. Principals, faculty and students from different colleges were brought together by this event. Eminent speakers addressed the gathering. The afternoon session was of poster and oral presentations. The students from different colleges have participated actively in these presentations. The evening session was felicitation of Prof. D. Gowri Sankar on the eve of his superannuation. He was felicitated by principals of different colleges, Ph.D. scholars, students and non-teaching staff.

Workshop – AU College of Pharmaceutical Sciences:

Three faculty of Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis, VNIPS have attended a workshop on 29th September, 2019 in A.U. College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Visakhapatnam entitled “Advances techniques in HPLC and GC”. Prof. K.V. Ramana Murthy gave a presentation on topic “Research Methodology and Good Research Practices”. Basanth Padhy gave a brief overview about their organisation, Spinco Biotech. Pvt. Ltd. and their products. Followed by technical session by Dr.Ajit Datar on the topic, “Fundamentals of Chromatography – Liquid Chromatography, Gas Chromatography and Column chemistry”. In the afternoon session, demonstration was carried out on Nexis GC-2030 by Mr. M. Raju, Goal product specialist and on HPLC i-series LC by Ms. Ramya. The event brought together around 120 students from different colleges in and around Visakhapatnam district. Eminent speakers addressed the gathering about the different aspects related to pharmacy field. Students have experienced many interesting seminars given by speakers in the sessions.

Guest Lecture on Parenterals:

VNIPS has conducted a guest lecture on Parenterals on 19/07/2019. The speaker is Mudila Suresh, Production Executive, Pfizer, located in Visakhapatnam. The lecture is extensive from the topics covered in textbooks to the industrial aspects of parenterals. About ten videos covering the manufacture processes, cleaning, personnel requirements and environmental monitoring are presented by the speaker.

NSS Activity – World Environment Day:

On the occasion of “World Environment Day”, NSS volunteers and staff members of Viswanadha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (VNIPS) conducted an awareness rally on harmful effects of plastic use on 03-06-2019 from college to Mindhivanipalem village. NSS volunteers have also prepared charts and handicrafts, etc and exhibited them in the college campus.

One week FDP on “Advances in Phytomedicine”:

Anurag Group of Institutions, School of Pharmacy ahs organized 1 week Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Advances in Phytomedicines” during 29th April to 4th May, 2019. Ms. A. Suneetha Devi has attended this program and learned about the clear idea of Aromatic and Medicinal plants and its process of extraction, production and medicinal value also learned about the Teaching methodology and skills. In this one week sessions she also gained the practical knowledge and handling of equipments in different departments. In this program 40 Staff members from different colleges had attended.

Guest Lecture on Emotional Intelligence and Learning:

A guest lecture on “Emotional Intelligence and Learning” was conducted at VNIPS on April 27, 2019. The speaker is Dr. BLR Madhavi, Assoc. Professor, Acharya & BM Reddy College of Pharmacy, Bangalore. Faculty and students have attended the seminar. The students found the learning practices discussed in the seminar very useful for them.

Guest Lecture on Patent Filing and Commercialization of Patents:

A guest lecture on “Patent Filing and Commercialization of Patents” was conducted on April 16, 2019 at VNIPS for the benefit of the faculty. The speaker is Prof. J. Vijaya Ratna, AU College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Andhra University, Visakhapatnam. The topics covered in the lecture are definition of patent, patentable ideas, procedure for filing a patent.

Pharmacy Council of India - Continuing Education Program

Seven Hills College of Pharmacy, Tiruapthi organized a PCI sponsored- Continuing Education Programme (CEP) on “Recent Trends and Challenges in Pharmaceutical Education & Research”, conducted for three days, 14th - 16th March 2019 to improve the teaching skills by using new techniques and methods. So as to communicate and increase the knowledge of the students. Ms. A. Suneetha Devi has attended this program and also gained knowledge about the new techniques and methods to improve the teaching skills. In this program 30 Staff members from different colleges had attended.

National Conference – Raghu College of Pharmacy:

Students of B. Pharm. II year and faculty, Mrs. A. Sowjanya and Mrs.M. Bhagyasree, Assistant Professors, Department of Pharmaceutics of VNIPS have attended a seminar conducted in Raghu College of Pharmacy, Visakhapatnam, on the theme, “Novel Drug Delivery Systems: Advantages & Innovations” on 16/03/2019. The technical session was started with seminar on ‘Recent advances in novel drug delivery systems’ by Prof. K.V. Ramana Murthy, followed by seminar on ‘Innovations in industrial sector’ by Sri B.V.R.K.S. Srinivas Rao - Vice President, Operations, Laurus Labs. The third seminar was by Dr. M. Naga Murali Krishna - Sr. Manager, Formulation R&D, Asphar Research Labs on ‘Advantages of using novel drug delivery systems’. Many students who attended the seminar including VNIPS students have participated in oral and poster presentations. Second year B. Pharm. students of VNIPS, G. Sai Ramya and M. Nandini were awarded second prize in poster presentation.

Pharmotsav 2K19 & Decennial Celebrations:

VNIPS has organized Pharmotsav - 2K19, a two day national level technical and cultural fest on 8th & 9th March 2019 with the theme ‘Innovations and Advancements- Future of Pharmacy’. Established in 2008, VNIPS celebrated 10 glorious years of academic excellence. The Chief Guest of the inaugural function, Sri K.V.V. Raju, CEO, Granules Omnichem Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, congratulated the college management for organizing such a mega event, which involved participants from many colleges. Dr. A. Lalitha, DM Neuro Physician addressed the delegates and enlightened the students with her valuable and inspiring speech regarding the innovations and future in pharmacy.
Plenary lecture was delivered by Guest of Honour, Prof. Dr. P.K. Lakshmi, Department of Pharmaceutics and Pharmacy practice from G. Pulla Reddy College of Pharmacy on the topic- Rational use of drugs. Many students who attended the seminar have participated in oral and poster presentations.
On the second day, a plenary lecture was given by Mrs. Ch. Tulasi Swati, Research Scholar and Pharmacy Assistant, Canada on the topic, “Precise medicine” in the morning session. Post lunch break, various events such as group dance, solo dance, Mehendi, rangoli, pot painting, tik tok, video speech, selfie contest, cartoon contest, quill art and memory game were held at different venues simultaneously. We cannot end this summary without mentioning the commendable effort and meticulous planning of Sri V. Nageswara Rao, Vice Chairman, Viswanadha Educational Society, Dr. P. Uma Devi, Principal, Dr. M. Savithri, Convener of Fest and Vice-Principal VNIPS, faculty members and students.

Field work – Sri Venkateswara Nursery :

VNIPS has organized a field trip to Sri Venkateswara Nursery, Kadiyam on 03/02/2019 for the students to create awareness on various techniques of cultivation and processing of medicinal plants. 41 students of II B. Pharmacy II Semester and two faculty members Mrs. D. Aruna Kumari and Mrs. K. Pushpa Rama Lakshmi have visited the nursery.

Workshop on Makeintern & Ecell IIT Kharagpur:

VNIPS has organized a zonal centre program in association with Makeintern & Ecell IIT Kharagpur for three days from 14th to 16th February 2019. The three day workshop is on topic “Drug Discovery – Designing & Development” and the speaker is Mr. Jitesh Doshi, Bioinformatics Analyst & Developer. A total of 56 students and faculty members have participated in the workshop from various colleges of Andhra Pradesh. Theory sessions were conducted in the morning and practice sessions were conducted in the afternoon. An online test was conducted on the last day of workshop. Top five scorers in the test were given merit certificates. All participants were given Certificate of Participation.

Activities in the year 2018

 

National Seminar at Avanthi:

M. Pharm. students and faculty of VNIPS have attended a seminar conducted in Avanthi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (AIPS), Visakhapatnam, on the theme, “Emerging trends in Pharmaceutical Sciences” on 01/12/2018. The event brought together around 200 students from almost 4-5 colleges in and around Visakhapatnam district. Eminent speakers addressed the gathering about the role of pharmacist regarding the tremendous changes happening in pharmacy field. Students have experienced many interesting seminars and discussions given by speakers in the sessions. Many students who attended the seminar including VNIPS students have participated in oral and poster presentations in which two of VNIPS students M.S.M. Suma and S. Ashitha have won Best Poster Award.

Campus Recruitment Training (CRT):

Viswanadha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (VNIPS), accredited by Pharmacy Council of India & AICTE and affiliated to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University has organized Campus Recruitment Training (CRT) program in association with iKonnect for the final year B. Pharm. students. Ikonnect is one of the promising institutes for training & development catering to the needs of pharmaceutical industry.
iKonnect, founded by Mrs. Jyotsna and Mr. Srivatsa, started in 2015. Training course comprised of 20 lectures (15 on technical aspects related to Pharmaceutical industry and 5 sessions on soft skills – list attached). As part of this training program the students have visited Granules Omni Chem Pvt. Ltd., Visakhapatnam on 26-11-2018 to have a real time feel of a day’s work at an API Manufacturing Plant. After completion of Campus Recruitment Training, VNIPS, in association with iKonnect conducted campus interviews for final year B.Pharm. students for placement in Synergene Active Ingredients Pvt. Ltd., Visakhapatnam on 08-05-2019. A total of 21 students have been placed successfully in various divisions like R&D, QA, QC and production of Synergene Active Ingredients Pvt. Ltd. The feedback of selected students implied that the training they have taken on various technical aspects and soft skills helped them in getting placement.

Industrial Visit - Granules Omni Chem:

Final year B.Pharm. students of 2015-19 batch visited “Granules Omni Chem (GOC)”, located at Jawaharlal Nehru Pharmacity, Special Economic Zone, Lankelapalem, Visakhapatnam on 23/11/2018. Students are accompanied by Dr. B. Nagamani and Ms. A. Suneetha Devi. GOC is a 50:50 joint venture between (GIL) and (AOC) started in 2011. It was qualified by USFDA in 2017 and produces intermediates and API’s. Students have visited all the three floors where various manufacturing facilities are present.

Net Ball University selection:

VNIPS has conducted Net Ball University selection trials for Men & Women on 27th November 2018 as per the guidelines of sports council, JNTUK. Nearly 100 students (men & women) of JNTUK affiliated colleges from Srikakulam to Prakasam, districts have attended for these trials, which took place in the VNIPS Net Ball court.

Hospital visit – Visakha Steel General Hospital:

Final year B.Pharm. students of 2015-2019 batch visited “Visakha Steel General Hospital”, in Visakhapatnam on 13/10/2018 and one of the faculty of VNIPS, Ms. A. Suneetha Devi, Asst. Prof, has accompanied them. They visited the dispensing unit, where medicines are dispensed for both the in-patients and out-patients. There they also observed a special dispensing process of online and off-line prescriptions. Pharmacists working in the hospital have explained the systematic way of dispensing drugs. All students and staff visited the medical stores where different drugs and surgical items are stored.

Orientation program:

A one day orientation program was organized for students & parents of both I year B. Pharm. and I year Pharm. D by Viswanadha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences on 19/09/2018. Dr. J. Vijayaratna, Retired Professor, AU College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Andhra University gave overall view of pharmacy education, research and future opportunities. Mrs. D. Aruna Kumari, Associate Professor, VNIPS has explained rules & regulations regarding attendance and examinations. She explained students and parents regarding anti ragging team, its members and shared phone numbers of class teachers. Mrs. A. Sowjanya, Assistant Professor, VNIPS gave a power point presentation explaining institution’s faculty, laboratory, library, transport and other facilities.

"Smt. & Sri Viswanadha Rajeswari and Ramamurthy Memorial Award" were awarded to toppers in B.Pharmacy of VNIPS on 6th April 2018. For 2014-18 batch, Ms. K. Harshitha received First Prize & Ms. B. Lavanya and Ms. M.S.M. Suma received Second Prize.

DST PURSE - National Workshop on Advanced Analytical Techniques:

VNIPS faculty Dr. GSN Koteswara Rao, Associate Professor has attended the 3 days national level workshop on Advanced techniques related to analytical, molecular, material testing and statistical tools (NWAT-2018) during 27th - 29th March 2018 held at Andhra University Advanced Analytical Laboratory. This is of high value workshop sponsored by DST for Andhra University with limited enrolment of attendees. The program is under the headship of Prof. U. Shameen, Organizing Secretary, Co-coordinator, DST-PURSE Programme, AU. The workshop consists of technical presentations by eminent speakers from different sectors and practical demonstration on selected instruments of LC-MS (Liquid Chromatography – Mass Spectrometry, Agilent), DTA (Differential Thermal Analysis, Hitachi), TGA (Thermo Gravimetric Analysis, Hitachi), DSC (Differential Scanning Calorimeter, Hitachi), UTM (Universal Material Testing Machine, Instron), DNA Analyzer (Thermo Fischer) and statistical software MINITAB 18.

IDMA-PHARMEXCIL-GOI National Seminar on Schedule-M &WHO-GMP:

Indian Drug Manufactures Association (IDMA); PHARMAEXCIL – Pharmaceutical Exports promotion Council of India and Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, Govt. of India jointly organized a National Seminar on Shifting Pharma Industry from Schedule-M to WHO-GMP Compliance at Fairfield Marriott, Visakhapatnam on 16th March 2018.
Research Scholars, Industrialists, Academicians and PG students have attended the Seminar in large numbers. Speakers addressed the gathering and gave inputs regarding the quality standards and guidelines of GMP and brief discussion regarding the criteria of World Health Organization (WHO) in handling the Pharmaceutical Industries for promoting Quality Management System. They also specified that maintaining quality is mandatory and all manufactures should notice the need and follow WHO-GMP Guidelines.

National Seminar at M.R. College of Pharmacy:

Faculty and students of VNIPS attended the two days National Seminar at Maharajah’s College of Pharmacy on 9th and 10th March 2018. Chief guest Dr. Rao VSV Vadlamudi, President, IPA addressed gathering and delivered informative lecture on Advances in Pharmaceutical Sciences to meet health care challenges. Mr. Srinivas Rao BVRKS, Dr. Anil Kumar Mahapatro, Prof. J. Vijaya Ratna and Prof. G. Girija Shankar gave insights into advanced techniques in pharmacy and their importance in pharmaceutical industry. Our student I. Pavani, I year, 2nd semester bagged second prize in poster presentation. She presented a poster on Nano Robotics and their applications. The two days national seminar, Pharma Elan 2K18 was so inspiring and encouraging to the students and staff .Staff and students of different pharmacy colleges participated and exchanged their views.

FDP-2 at IIT Bombay:

After getting qualified in FDP-1, both the faculty of VNIPS were promoted to FDP-2 (Faculty Development Program) on “Pedagogy for Online and Blended Teaching-Learning Process” organized by IIT Bomaby during 14th September to 12th October 2017 and successfully completed the programs. Attended A-VIEW sessions held at GVP College of Engineering during 16th & 17th September 2017 and 7th & 8th October 2017.

World Pharmacists Day Celebrations 2017:

VNIPS has celebrated the Wolrd Pharmacists Day on September 25th 2017 in a grand way. Different smart phone based contests were organized. Col. T. Prasad and Prof. G. Girija Sankar attended the celebrations as chief guest and awarded the winners with merit certificates and prizes. They motivated the students with their inspiring speeches. A day before the celebrations, a rally and health awareness campaign was held at RK Beach, Visakhaptnam.

Rally for Rivers:

As a part of NSS program NSS volunteers of Viswanadha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences participated in ‘Rally for the Rivers’ conducted at R.K Beach Road near Kali Temple, Visakhapatnam, on 24-09-2017 (Sunday). In this program NSS volunteers actively participated and motivated the people to “Save Rivers And Save Lives”.

Guest Lecture at Dr. SGIPS:

Dr. GSN Koteswara Rao, Associate Professor, VNIPS attended Freshers Day of Dr. Samuel George Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Markapur as Chief Guest and addressed the students on Sept 22nd 2017. He is also the first batch student of that college during 2001-05 and topper of the batch and is recipient of gold medal and silver medal in academics.

Teachers Day Celebrations:

Sept 5th 2017 - VNIPS students celebrated the Teachers Day in a well organized manner. Mrs. D. Aruna Kumari was awarded BEST TEACHER OF THE YEAR 2017 Award by Management. A part of student’s nominations activity, Dr. GSN Koteswara Rao and Mrs. I. Vasavi were elected as favorite teachers of the year 2017. All these faculty were felicitated.

On Sept 2nd & 3rd 2017 – VNIPS faculty Dr. GSN Koteswara Rao and Mr. G. Uma Sankar participated in 9th National IPA Students Congress held at VIPS, Rajahmundry and stood as a part of organizing committee in organizing National Pharma Quiz 2017.

FDP-1 at IIT Bombay: ICT in Education:

Faculty of VNIPS, Dr. GSN Koteswara Rao and Mr. G. Uma Sankar participated in AICTE approved FDP (Faculty Development Program) organized by IIT Bombay during 3rd August to 7th September 2017. On Aug 19th & 20th 2017 – face to face interaction session, MOOCs, A- View at GVP College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam by Padmashree Prof. Deepak Pathak and team of IIT Bombay was attended by the participants. Total 7,000+ participants from multiple disciplines participated in the A-VIEW across the country.

NSS Swachh Bharath Pakhwada Programme 2017:

As a part of NSS Program NSS Volunteers of VNIPS participated in NSS Swacch Bharath Pakhwada Program conducted in Government Primary School at Mindhivanipalem, Anandapuram, Visakhapatnam, on 05-08-2017 (Saturday). In this program the NSS Volunteers actively participated and cleaned the surroundings of the Govt. Primary School.

VIZAG FEST:

VNIPS students have actively participated in Vizag Fest (10th April to 19th April 2015) under the guidance of faculty members and explained the importance of Pharmacy Profession, role of Pharmacist in society, video clips of Pharma Industry work areas, awareness on proper use of medicines etc. The audience and attendees responded well and appreciated the efforts kept by VNIPS team.

FAREWELL TO B.PHARM 4th BATCH STUDENTS:

On 4th April 2014, Farewell to 4th batch students of B.Pharm was given in a grand way by their juniors. The event was named as “ALVIDA”. The total party was a full energy pack and well organized with the high involvement of faculty members too.

Again on 13th April, Management, Principal and Staff have given formal Send Off to the same batch after their completion of semester exams and labs.





HHEALTH AWARENESS CAMP:

On 14th March 2014, VNIPS team has kept Health awareness camps as multiple places in the city of Visakhapatnam. Camps were held at RK Beach, BHPV, Port stadium and Pendurti zones. Distributed pamphlets on awareness of health, explained major disease conditions and remedies by displaying the posters, conducted BMI – Body Mass Index estimations etc. for the public. The response is appreciable and the camps went on answering the queries of public.





FRESHERS PARTY:

On 16th February 2014, Freshers Party to 7th batch students of B.Pharm was held by their seniors. The interaction between both the juniors and seniors enhanced the friendly bonding among them.




MOSQUITO REPELLENT CANDLES:

Mrs. Sravanthi and Mrs. Amrutha under the guidance of Prof. P. Uma Devi have worked out the making of Mosquito Repellant Candle





REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS:

With the presence of Sri V. Nageswara Rao, Vice-Chairman, VES; Prof. P. Uma Devi, Principal, VNIPS and Prof. K. Raja Rajeswari, Principal, VITAM. The Independence Day Celebrations went on with vibrant flag hoisting and inspiring speeches. Toppers of out going batch were awarded with Merit Scholarships named HARITHA KONDRAJU MEMORIAL AWARD initiated by the past faculty of VNIPS Mrs. P. Sirisha. The awardees include: M. Prameela, M. Pavani Bharathi and K. Abhiram Nair.

And also a scholarship in the form of Pharmacy text books and note books was awarded to Ms. Tulasi, 2nd B.Pharm student by MYBO Educational and Charitable Trust.

NATIONAL SEMINAR AT MR COLLEGE OF PHARMACY:

VNIPS students actively participated in National Seminar held at MR College of Pharmacy, Vizianagaram, A.P. First prize in poster presentation was awarded to our VNIPS candidate.



NATIONAL PHARMACY WEEK (NPW) CELEBRATIONS - 2014:


In the 3rd week of November 2014, VNIPS has organized National Pharmacy Week Celebrations by conducting different activities like Rally, Academic competitions covering Elocution & Essay writing, Extracurricular competitions covering Drawing, Treasure hunt, Eating competition etc. Theme of the celebrations is RESPONSIBLE USE OF MEDICINES: ROLE OF PHARMACIST.

Students along with faculty members organized an awareness camp explaining all the aspects of medication like allopathic medicines and types, types of dosage forms and their usage, prescription and its importance, remembering dose, precautions to be taken while using medicines for pregnant women and children, drug interactions, advertisements and medicines, whom to complaint about irregularities at Beach Road and R.T.C. Complex.

Principal Dr. P. Uma Devi appreciated all the staff and students for making the celebrations a grand success. All the winners and runners were awarded with merit certificates and prizes.





NSS PROGRAMS:

As a part of NSS wing, VNIPS organized multiple activities among which the major include:

Awareness about Diabetes was created among public by distribution of Pamphlets on Diabetes Day at various locations in the Visakhapatnam city which received applause by public. Health Camp was conducted at Sabbavaram and Anandapuram and our students tested Weight, Blood Pressure and Hemoglobin for the rural folk and medicines were distributed to them with the help of a Doctor at Anandapuram. The activities were highly appreciated by the public and got applause from the beneficiaries.





PLANTATION:


As a remedy for the big disaster Hudhud cyclone, VNIPS family has taken up a big initiative of planting more than 100 plants in its campus during October & November 2014.

VNIPS and VITAM, celebrated Teachers Day 2014 in a grand way. Mr. GSN Koteswara Rao, Asst. professor, VNIPS was awarded BEST TEACHER AWARD for the academic year 2013-14.

NATIONAL SEMINAR:

Viswanadha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (VNIPS) in association with Pharmaceutical Organization for Women Empowerment and Research (POWER) organized a “National Seminar on Empowerment of Women” on 8th March, 2014 at its campus, Mindivanipalem, Anandapuram Mandal, Visakhapatnam on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

More than 550 students actively participated from various colleges to the National Seminar. VNIPS conducted poster presentations, oral presentations, elocution competition, cartoon contest, essay writing and short film contest. For boosting the delegates, various spot events like Memory game, Puzzles, Cross words, Who am I? and Am I Lucky! were also conducted.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS:

VNIPS celebrated Republic Day in its campus by hoisting the National Flag by the hands of Sri V. Narasimham, Chairman, Viswanadha Educational Society. Prof. K. Raja Rajeswari, Director; Sri V. Ravi, Jt. Secretary and Dr. P. Uma Devi, Principal-VNIPS graced the occasion. Huge gathering of teaching and non-teaching staff made the program success.

In this regard, VNIPS has conducted a Memory Test on Freedom Fighters. The winners of 3 categories were award with appreciation certificate and prizes during the program.

Fresher’s party was grandly celebrated for the 6th batch students of VNIPS at Central auditorium on Jan 4th 2014. The party includes various cultural events, skits, stage shows and lunch.

NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS - 2014:

VNIPS faculty and students in association with Mybo Educational and Charitable Trust celebrated New Year by distributing the fruits and biscuit packets to patients at Govt. Hospital for Mental Care, Visakhapatnam. A total of 250 patients were served in this gathering.

NATIONAL LEVEL PRIZE TO VNIPS FACULTY:

Faculty of Viswanadha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (VNIPS), Ms. Pingali Sirisha, won 2nd Prize in National Level Essay Competition – 2013 organized by Pharmacists’ Organization for Women Empowerment and Research (POWER), in association with Indian Pharmaceutical Congress (IPC). The theme of essay is “A Perspective on Herbal Medicines and Herbal Supplements”. This competition is conducted exclusively for all Indian Women Pharmacists either employed in Industry or Institutions or Pharmacy students throughout India.

Prof. K. Raja Rajeswari, Director, Viswanadha Educational Institutions appreciated Sirisha for her achievement. She congratulated her on behalf of Management and Staff. Dr. P. Uma Devi, Principal, VNIPS greeted her for standing 2nd place on National Level. She added that POWER is doing lot of service for the upgradation of women pharmacists in society and profession. She extended her wishes to the co-ordinators of POWER: Prof. J. Vijaya Ratna and Prof. Kalyani Prakasam. She advised all women pharmacists to utilize the opportunities provided by the organization and excel in their respective field.

NATIONAL PHARMACY WEEK (NPW) CELEBRATIONS - 2013:

VNIPS (Viswanadha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences) celebrated NPW-2013 through out the week in a grand way by organizing Pharma related competitions in Essay, Elocution, Poster presentations etc. Had a rally with slogans and placards about the importance of pharmacist and health care in the streets of Anandapuram.

Valedictory function was held on Dec 3rd for which, a well renowned personnel Sri R. UDAY BHASKAR, Asst. Director, DCA, Hyderabad was Chief Guest. He is also the GM, Jeevanadha Generics, Govt. of A.P. He is Secretary General, AIDCOC (All India Drugs Control Officers Confederation). The speech delivered by him is extra-ordinary and thought provoking. He mainly stressed on the importance of concept and subject rather simply excessive marks which is present day's scenario. Excellence in interested field will keep the person ahead of all others is the essence of part of his speech. He also made a focus on international pharma capacities comparing caliber of India, China, US and South Africa.

Guest of Honor - Prof. K. Raja Rajeswari and President of the function - Dr. P. Uma Devi, Principal, VNIPS graced the occasion.

Gifts and Certificates were awarded to the Winners of various competitions held and also to the academic toppers of M.Pharm and B.Pharm.

TELUGU POSTER ON PATIENT GUIDELINES:

VNIPS has taken a step forward and released a Poster (Telugu) on PATIENT GUIDELINES prepared by Dr. M. Savithri, Professor of Pharmacology, VNIPS; proposed to be displayed in all Medical Shops of Visakhapatnam in association with Drugs Control Department. Already got permission from Drug Inspector and ADC, Visakhapatnam.

HARITHA KONDRAJU MEMORIAL AWARD:

Ms. Pingali Sirisha, Asst. Professor, VNIPS has designed a project in association with VNIPS in the name of HARITHA KONDRAJU MEMORIAL AWARD to the Toppers (1st, 2nd and 3rd places) of overall B.Pharm as Merit Certificates and Cash Prizes (a total of Rs. 3,000). It will be continued every year through Mybo Educational and Charitable Trust!

PUBLIC HEALTH:

VNIPS is contributing one day in a month for the welfare of public by organizing health awareness camps. In December month the camp was held at Mindivanipalem village and provided health related information to the village people.

CHILDREN’s DAY CELEBRATIONS:

Children’s Day Celebrations went on with graceful events like drawing, singing, eating and debate competitions. All the winners were awarded with appreciation certificates. Active participants in NSS were also recognized and awarded with certificates.

ONLINE PHARMA QUIZ for 1st B.Pharm Students:

A novel initiative was taken up by VNIPS in association with USA web portal Pharmainfo.Net and organized online Pharma Quiz for a week especially for 1st B.Pharm students. Top 3 winners were awarded with 8GB and 4GB pen drives.

VNIPS PHARMA EXPO - 2012:

Viswanadha Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Visakhapatnam has successfully organized the VNIPS Pharma EXPO-2012 on 22nd Dec’ 2012 with the huge gathering of Intermediate students from various colleges.

The main motto of this EXPO is to bring awareness in students about the importance of Pharmacy profession and Pharmacist role in society and health care management system. In this regard, 9 Halls with VERY INTERESTING projects presenting the laboratory and industrial sector works of pharmacy.

Around 200+ students from intermediate colleges, majority from Pemic Junior College, Pendurti; Govt. Junior College, Pendurti and Mahodaya Junior College, Anandapuram have participated. They interacted well with the organizers and clarified their doubts regarding the pharmacy profession.

Principal, Dr. P. Uma Devi inaugurated the EXPO and addressed all the students and faculty saying that Pharmacy profession is a noble profession and pharmacist play a vital role in drug discovery, drug product development, patient counseling and in various health sectors. She also added “Pharmacist always thinks about relieving patients from the suffering due to countless ailments”. On overall the VNIPS Pharma EXPO is a grand success.
